The first Friday of each month, the East Village will be staying open late. Cherry Clark will be hosting "First Friday Free Fun" an activity that kids of all ages can to participate in.
Our first event was last Friday with the theme "A Floral Affair". It was an incredible event and so much fun. I loved to see the variety of flower pots that the kids painted. I even convinced the big brother of a couple of siblings to paint and I think he enjoyed it. What didn't happen? None of the parents painted. It was an option.
Now I get that they may have thought it was really a "kids" activity. But nothing would make me happier than to have mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa all go home with a completed project. I am a grandmother and the best times are when my grandson and I are on the floor painting. That's the great thing about wood floors and Clorox wipes - easy cleanup. No - I don't expect everyone to get down on the floor and paint. We have tables and chairs. Although, you can if you want to.
So why should I paint - I'm the adult in the relationship?
1. It is more fun to participate in the activity with the child than it is to sit back and watch. Plus, they will think you are really cool for doing so!
2. Loosen up - get your creative juices flowing.
3. Life feels so structured - step outside of the box.
4. You may realize that you enjoy it and take up a new hobby.
5. Because it's fun - nuff said!
I hope to see at our next "First Friday Free Fun" activity for kids of all ages at Cherry Clark on Friday, June 2nd from 5-8pm.
Sarah Clark along with her husband Gary have busy hands. They love to build beautiful crafted furniture. But, they also upcycle from palettes, insulators, cabinets, doors, and old furniture. It is so much fun to make the old into beautiful new pieces. Follow us on our journey.
