How do I decide if I paint or stain my cabinets?
1 - Do you want a modern look or a classic look?
Stained cabinets offer a more traditional look. Painted cabinets offer a crisp modern look. Another option is to do a combination of both.
2 - Are you wanting to add color to your kitchen?
When we talk about painting your cabinets, we don't mean just white or gray. You can do Holiday Red, Patina Green, Sunglow Yellow, and more. Your color can be bold, dramatic, whimsical, or classic.
3 - What is the color scheme of the kitchen going to be?
Do your cabinets need to compliment a current color scheme or are you going to be creating a whole new color scheme for the kitchen. What rooms attach to the kitchen? What are their colors? You want to make sure that your new kitchen cabinets will not clash with attached rooms.
4 - What is the lighting like in your kitchen?
If your kitchen is dark or lighting is an issue, then you want to steer away from darker stains or paints. Choosing a lighter paint or stain will brighten up your kitchen. When lighting isn't an issue or you have a open floor plan, you will be able to choose darker paints and stains.
